- Symmachus' relationes are official reports that he sent to the Emperor in 384 and 385 while serving as urban prefect of Rome. The letters cover a broad thematic repertoire: they report on supply problems in Rome, on the organization of games, on unqualified personnel, and on several civil and criminal trials. They present a vivid picture of the administrative and legal practices of the times. First German translation of this text. With introduction and annotations.
