- From 1979 to 1995, Arnfrid Astel led an unusual writing seminar at Saarland University, often called the "Saarbrücken School." Instead of learning how to become successful writers, students engaged in ruthless but respectful mutual textual criticism. The book features 17 former students, along with their teacher Arnfrid Astel, in a fictitious discussion group, giving the reader a sense of the Saarbrücken School experience.
