- Description
- 1 volume (unpaged) : color illustrations; 21 cm.
- Summary
- " De esa parte de uno/ sale otra/ se despega/ pero deja/ un agujero/ que chilla/ cómo chilla/ qué kawaii" (From that part of one/ another/ takes off/ but leaves/ a hole/ that squeals/ how it squeals/ what kawaii). This poem is by Cecilia Lenardón (artist, psychoanalyst and also mother, and niece of Silvia,. The last word of the poem is also the title of Silvia Lenardón's series of drawings. Consisting of two characters from classic Japanese meaning literally "tolerable love", Kawaii is a Japanese adjective that in English would be translatable as "cute". However, her drawings are not kawaii. The word-image relationship are ironic, as an allusion to what is not said about motherhood: the sinister that coexists with tenderness, the pain of childbirth such as "crash" or tearing to pieces, the demand of the new being as a "squealing hole".
