- Raven Chanticleer (1928-2002) was an African American fashion designer, dancer, sculptor and entreprenuer. Chanticleer had designed clothes for Bergdorf Goodman prior to founding his own dance company, the Raven Chaticleer Dancers, in the 1960s. He returned to fashion design in the 1970s. In 1989, Chanticleer opened the African-American Wax and History Museum of Harlem, devoted to African American heroes, where he sculpted the wax figures and designed their clothing.
