- Summary
- Depictions primarily of Rastafarian men in Jamaica, from 1980-1981, that formed a photo essay entitled "A Sense of Rasta," consisting of quarter to full-length posed or candid shots of individual adolescent to senior men; portraits of a woman and a mother and child; views of groups of young men; views of men performing tasks or handicrafts; and a view of an herb smoking bowl or pipe in use. Of note is a group portrait titled "Officially" of attendees to the 1st International Conference of Rastafari, in Toronto, Canada (1981); and a portrait of an older man dressed in attire similar to Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie.

- Omobowale Ayorinde, born in 1945, is a photographer and filmmaker. He received his BFA in photography and cinematography from the Massachusetts College of Art (1975) and an MFA in photography from Rochester Institute of Technology (1977). Though known for his photo essay on Rastafarians in Jamaica, Ayorinde has been an associate professor at RIT for over twenty years, teaching photography, videography and imaging studies.
