Summary
Depictions of events and gatherings related to the black community, mostly in New York City, during the 1980s, consisting of candid shots and views of parade spectators, Graveyite Explorer Cadets, percussionists, and a fire eater during parades and street festivals in Harlem (1986); and views of a wake held in a Bronx church (1986). Also depicted are poet Kamau Daáood and drummer Jimmie Hopps during the filming of "A Tribute to John Coltrane" in Los Angeles, California (1984); a candid shot of a Haitian drummer in Berkeley, California (1978); and a view of street posters in Lower Manhattan (1987).
