- Summary
- Depictions primarily of abstracted outdoor forms, both man-made and from nature, as well as a still life and a life study, from 1981 to 1985, consisting of views of waterfalls; street car tracks in a brick roadway; the casting of shadows and light on architecture, man-made surfaces and room interiors; details of doorways, windows and a deteriorating wooden fence; an ebony sculpted hand resting on linens; and a partially unclothed woman's torso in a "christening gown."

Both of the matted prints and some mounted prints bear photographer's handwritten notations and printing dates on recto; all mounted and matted prints bear photographer's handwritten notations for negative numbers, print numbers, capture or creation dates, and print titles on verso. Two prints are enlargements of work prints.

- Otis Sprow, born in 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland, is an African American photographer and instructor who was based primarily in Detroit, Michigan. Though trained as a mechanical engineer at Cornell University in New York State, Sprow became interested in photography in the 1970s. He is also interested in the technical aspects of photography, including darkroom techniques and film development, and has lectured and written articles on various related topics. In the 2010s, Sprow took up poetry.
