A major portion of the collection depicts the life and activities of Nation of Islam spokesman Malcolm X (1963-1965); and events related to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.
- Of note are depictions of Malcolm X addressing a Muslim rally in Camden, New Jersey (1963); views of Malcolm X's funeral in Harlem, New York, and his burial in Ferncliff Cemetery (1965); and views along the route of the Selma march showing participants, law enforcement, and local residents. Other individuals depicted include Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Dick Gregory, Betty Shabazz, Ossie Davis, Elijah Muhammad, Bayard Rustin, James Baldwin, Ralph Bunche, and radio personality and King associate Georgie Woods.
- Also included are views from the Dominican Republic during the United States invasion (1965); views of political exile Robert F. Williams living in Cuba (ca. 1961-1965); and two booklets, one for the Georgie Woods hosted music show "Freedom Show 1965" supporting Dr. King, and a memorial booklet to Dr. King (1968), which both include images by Henry.
