Summary
Depictions of individuals and activities related to religious services at the Brooklyn Word Church, a Pentecostal church in Brooklyn, New York, during 1988-1989, consisting of candid shots and views of worshipers during and after services; views of ministers leading worshipers or laying hands on worshipers during services; views of worshipers socializing or engaging in religious activities outside of services; candid shots of children at home or participating in services; views of a wedding; and an exterior view of the church's storefront entrance. Of note are views of individuals in a religious furvor: dancing, raising and waving their hands, speaking in tongues, and collapsing to the floor. Also included are a small group of miscellaneous churches.

Biography (note)
  • Steve Hart is a Brooklyn, New York, commercial photographer and video producer. Hart was a photojournalist from 1987-2001, working for various publications including the New York Times and People Magazine, and has taught photography at Rutgers University, the International School of Photography (New York), and the School of Visual Arts (New York). He also produced the CD/ROM "A Bronx Family Album: the Impact of AIDS" (1998), a photodocumentary about an HIV-positive couple's seven year struggle with the disease. Hart is currently co-owner of Happening Photos, a commercial photography company in New York.

Biography
Steve Hart is a Brooklyn, New York, commercial photographer and video producer. Hart was a photojournalist from 1987-2001, working for various publications including the New York Times and People Magazine, and has taught photography at Rutgers University, the International School of Photography (New York), and the School of Visual Arts (New York).
