- Summary
- Depictions of individuals, events and activities related to the Nation of Islam, mainly in Chicago, Illinois, from 1973-1986, consisting of candid shots and views of Nation of Islam leaders, the Fruit of Islam, temple members, political and non-Muslim religious leaders and activists, and celebrities; and views of Muslim rallies and religious gatherings, interviews, a press conference, meetings, and publicity events. Of note are various Saviour's (or Saviours') Day gatherings in Chicago, which include the last public appearance of Minister Elijah Muhammad (1973); Minister Louis Farrakhan giving a lecture at the Genesis Center, Gary, Indiana (1978); boxer Muhammad Ali holding a press conference in Kingston, Jamaica (1974); People's Temple leader Jim Jones addressing a Muslim gathering at the Los Angeles (Ca.) Convention Center (1976); and Minister Farrakhan lecturing at a mosque in Colón, Panama (1986).
