Summary
Depictions mainly of the personal lives of writer, scholar and political activist C.L.R. James and his second wife, model, actress and writer Constance Webb, from the 1940s to the 1960s, consisting of a studio portrait of James (ca. 1953); modeling portraits of Webb (ca. 1940s-1950s); and candid shots and group portraits showing James, Webb, their son C.L.R. "Nobbie" Jr., another family member and a friend. James's literary and political activities are not depicted. Of note are a view of Webb with Ellen Wright, the widow of author Richard Wright (1966); candid shots of James with Webb in later years (ca. 1980s); and a view of Kenyan political activist Jomo Kenyatta addressing an outdoor political rally in London (ca. 1937).
