At Decca, he worked on blues, jazz and gospel recordings, became a recording supervisor, and formed his own band, the Texas Bluesicians. During the 1940s, Price recorded and performed either solo or with groups that included Sidney Bechet and Mezz Mezzrow. In the 1950s, he moved to Dallas, opened two clubs there, and often toured with his own band in Europe.
