- Summary
- Group portraits of mostly children and young adults, who are either African or of African descent, who were members of foreign missions sponsored by the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, and a group portrait of staff and visitors to the A.M.E. Church office of the Division of Home and Foreign Missions, in Harlem, New York, from the 1930s to the 1950s. Mission groups depicted are the A.M.E. Church Mission Band, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (ca. 1935); a meeting of army, civic and religious officials at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, Santiago, Cuba (1939); missionaries and converts at the Eliza Turner Memorial A.M.E. Church, Monrovia, Liberia (1947); and members of the congregation of Union Church, Monterrey, Mexico (1954). The depiction of the group visiting the New York A.M.E. Church office is undated.
