- Collection primarily of publicity photographs of rap performers from the 1980s to the 1990s, consisting mostly of individual and group studio portraits; group portraits from music-related events; candid shots that may have been used for publicity purposes; and television stills from the television program "Remote Control" (1988). Among the artists depicted include the Beastie Boys, Mary J. Blige, De La Soul, Doug E. Fresh, Original Concept, Public Enemy, Slick Rick, and notably LL Cool J and RUN-D.M.C. the latter of whom Adler wrote about extensively. No music performances are depicted.

- Bill Adler, born in 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, is an American music journalist and critic specializing in hip-hop. Adler served as director of publicity for Def Jam Recordings (1984-1990), authored a biography of rap group RUN-D.M.C., "Tougher Than Leather' (1987) and co-authored "Def Jam Recordings" (2011). He also founded Eyejammie Fine Arts Gallery (2003), co-founded the poetry record label Mouth Almighty Records (1996), consults and curates museum and gallery shows about hip-hop, and has produced documentary films.
