- Summary
- Depictions of Nigerian theatrical and dance performances, artwork and exhibitions, and outdoor activities, from the mid-1960s, consisting of individual portraits of theatrical storytellers; views of storytellers, dancers and drummers performing in traditional attire; views of theatrical productions; and views of a street procession; paintings, sculptures, and carpets in exhibitions or outdoor displays; an art gallery opening; and a sculpture workshop. Of note are views of the Eastern Nigeria Theatre Group's stage productions of J.P. Clark's "Song of a Goat" and "Masquerade," held at the Mbari Club in Ibadan (1965), and views of a sculpture workshop, also held at the Mbari Club (ca. 1965). Most items are not identified. Also included is a candid shot of a young girl.

- Susan Otis Thompson, 1931-2008, was an American educator and writer. After studying modern French Literature at the University of Paris, Thompson was employed by the foreign service during the 1950s to early 1960s. In 1963, she received her Masters from Columbia University's School of Library Service, and subsequently began teaching the History of the Book course there from 1966 until the school's closing in 1992. Thompson was a frequent lecturer and writer for "Typophile" organizations dedicated to the printed word, and was a contributor to the William Morris Society, notably with her publication "American Book Design and William Morris" (1977). She was a founding member of the American Printing History Association (1974) and one of the first women allowed to join the Grolier Club (1977).
