Als Zeichner von meisterhafter Präzision und Reduktion und einer der grandiosesten Porträtisten seiner Zeit hinterließ er uns ein einzigartiges Werk. The short, eventful life of the Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani embodies the tragic myth of the unsuccessful and hapless Bohemian. When he died of tuberculosis at the age of only thirty-five, he was destitute, having no success on the art market or with the critics, let alone having sold a single painting. As a draughtsman of masterly precision and reduction and one of the greatest portraitists of his time, he left us a unique oeuvre.
