Summary

The essays that make up this book address different Mayan ways of conceiving, measuring and living time, from the plurality of their iconographic and linguistic representations to the configuration of the temporal frames of reference used, and their links with the ways of knowing and acting; from the qualities attributed to the daily, seasonal or annual phases, to the temporary organization of daily activities; from the relationship between the short times of lived history and those, long, typical of memory and mythical-historical narration, to the marking and functions of events or periods of beginning or end of cycle. The articles that make up this volume are elaborations of works that were presented in the framework of the colloquium "Mesures et textures du temps maya: le dit, l'écrit, le vécu / Compases y texturas del tiempo maya: lo dicho, lo escrito y lo vivido, organized in the musée du quai Branly, in October 2014.
