- Summary
- This exhibition focusses on the paintings of Hans Memling, one of the most significant painters of the Burgundian Bruges genre. His work inspired a lot of contemporary artists. You will get a glimpse of his big influence.00He painted no less than four works for the medieval Sint-Janshospitaal, which are considered to be masterpieces amongst the artwork of the Flemish primitives. The world-renowned Ursula Shrine is one them.00Hans Memling is a source of inspiration for various contemporary artists and this Bruges exhibition highlights his influences for the first time. As well as a range of works of art by Joseph Kosuth? one of the forefathers of conceptual art? there will also be works on display by African-American painter Kehinde Wiley (who painted an official portrait of Barack Obama). The exhibition also includes work by the Iranian painter Aydin Aghdashloo. Belgian artist David Claerbout and the Syrian-American Diana Al-Hadid will be creating a new work for this project.00Exhibition: Sint-Janshospitaal, Bruges, Belgium (01.10.2020 - 01.02.2021).
