Summary
The exhibition "Masterpieces of Master Ennion. Antique glass-making of the Eastern Mediterranean I-IV centuries" is dedicated to the famous antique glass-maker, who created his masterpieces in the first half of the 1st century in the Roman province of Syria. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to see and appreciate the products of this remarkable master, whose works, performed using the blowing technique in a matrix, remained unsurpassed in terms of sophistication of forms and complexity of ornamentation. The exhibition includes works of ancient glassmakers who created their products in the Eastern Mediterranean, including the modern territories of Syria, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon and the island of Cyprus. It includes 90 different works of ancient artistic craft, including four glass vessels by Ennion from the collection of the famous Israeli collector Shlomo Mussayeff, provided for the exhibition by his widow Alice Mussayeff. A magnificent blue glass jug created by the master Ennion, specially provided for the exhibition by the Museum of MUSA Eretz Israel in Tel Aviv, is a striking exhibit of the exhibition. And, of course, the adornment of the Hermitage collection, graceful in shape, exquisitely decorated amphora, signed by Ennion. Most of the works, 83 items, come from the Hermitage collection.
