Local Note
The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is one of the items acquired or added to the Schomburg collection (July 19, 1937 -- G.K. Halls) during Catherine A. Latimer & Arthur A. Schomburg's times as collection librarian & curator. Imperfect: disbound, lacks the NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," that's associated with books from that period, treated, each leaf encapsulated or reinforced with Japanese tissue paper, rebound in blue cloth over boards library binding, and gilt spine. It includes an NYPL's 1940's onward bookplate of: "The Schomburg Collection of Negro Literature and History"; and inscribed in inks on the cover, and manuscript notations on the pages for February, March, June, November, and December, & also a page of additional manuscript notation page between June and July which contains a medicinal instruction "giving by the Rev. [Wm.?] [Prichett?] July 17th, [17]94."
