Summary
Van abstract schilder naar beeldhouwer-constructivist. The radical transformation from lyrical abstract painter to constructivist sculptor that André Volten achieved between 1950 and 1965 in his quest for the absolute in sculpture is explored in detail for the first time in this book. The discovery of 61 paintings stored away in the attic of his studio home in Amsterdam North which, with few exceptions, had not been seen for the past sixty years, came as a complete surprise even to those familiar with Volten's work.
