Summary
This book recovers a text written in the late 19th century by author José López Portillo y Rojas in his short novel "Nieves". From its pages, in which he narrates in an autobiographical tone family memories that have as a framework the Jalisco population of Tequila, we draw the descriptions it makes of the "mezcaleras" or plantations of Agave Tequilana Weber, blue variety and the other similar types of agave that served as raw material -until the 20th century- for the elaboration of tequila; memories of his grandfather's old "tavern" or distillery; the debates about the origin of the distillate were held at the end of the 19th century and the valuable explanation of the ancestral process of making mezcal wine. To complement the reading of the texts written by López Portillo y Rojas about the ancestral method of cultivation and manufacture of tequila, Nacho Gómez Arriola elaborated 18 engravings and three printed chapter letters of the original plates on handmade paper DePonte of cotton and blue agave fiber made in Tequila especially for this edition. It was composed in movable metallic type and in Intertype by the master Salvador Botello.
