• Recueil, van de tractaten gemaeckt ende geslooten tusschen de hoogh mog[ende]. heeren Staten Generael der Vereenighde Nederlanden, ter eenre; ende verscheyde koningen, princen ende potentaten, ter andere zyde / collected by Jacobus Scheltus, the Hague, [1701] appears as a gathering of pamphlets with a collective title page and index with varying numbers of items. There is an edition which lists 48 items, one which lists 65, and seemingly the final one which gives 73 titles in the index. All were printed in the Hague, and all pamphlets were reset with different orthographies and differing pagination, according to the typography. In the presumably final edition with 73 pamphlets the documents range in date from 1576 until 1701.
• A second volume with title "Vervolgh van het Recueil van de tractaten, gemaackt en geslooten tusschen de hoogh mog[ende]. zyde. Tweede deel / collected by Jacobus Scheltus, the Hague, 1726 [i.e. before 1777?], accompanied the first volume of pamphlets. This second volume also was printed with a collective title page and an index detailing the contents. Varying numbers of pamphlets are also listed in this volume. The volume set with 65 pamphlets lists 28 items in the index and the set with 73 pamphlets lists 30 items. In the presumably final edition with 30 pamphlets the documents range in date from 1713-1777.
• Note that the title as given in the indexes of the various collective title pages are often merely descriptions of the documents and not the exact titles themselves as they are printed on the title pages or caption titles.
• Despite the given number of pamphlets in the indexes of both volume 1 and volume 2, very often there are more items that are unaccounted for bound with the collection. It should perhaps be assumed that as more pertinent documents were issued, the collective title page and index were expanded and the pieces reset and reprinted or merely bound in as there was stock left over.
• These documents represent some of the founding documents of the Dutch Republic or assorted political documents and memorabilia of the Eighty Years War, and would have been reprinted in these collections for interested parties to have them available in one bound volume.
• Signatures: A-C⁴.
• Text in both black letter and roman type.
