- Summary
- Who knew that an elephant would take on a role, form or colour other than that of a true elephant? The Atharaka people found a unique leader in Kibũka, a man of mysterious origin. Although the people held him in awe, they were drawn to him in times of need and soon forgot their problems as soon as there was relief. When a severe drought threatened to wipe them out, they sought various solutions which led them to Kibũka. He beseeched the heavens to bring rain. Little did they know that the skies held more than raindrops. In this beautiful mythology, Karigu takes the liberty to step into the story, exploring the roots of the Atharaka, a community in Eastern Kenya region. The author gives an account of the people's aspirations, fears, greed, triumph and tragedies. --Back cover.
