Local Note
The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has two copies of the book. Copy 1 in Sc Rare 326.1-M is in the Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division. It's one of the items acquired or added to the collection during Catherine A. Latimer & Arthur A. Schomburg's times as collection librarian & curator. It includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," NYPL's perforated stamp, and the "Schomburg Collection" stamp on the preliminary & title page. It also includes a library bounding date stamped: "Nov. 2nd, 1936." The Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy inscribed on the half-title or preliminary page to: "Dashwood, Sir H[enry] W[Watkin], MP."
Copy 2 in Sc 326.1-M is in the Jean Blackwell Hutson Research and Reference Division; probably one of the books added to the collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian; & Lawrence Reddick was the Curator. It includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," NYPL's perforated stamp. However, it lacks some of the other stamps & processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection. Imperfect: this copy lacks the half-title or preliminary page; and is bound in red cloth over boards, library binding, and a gilt spine.
