- Summary
- 'Six Degrees of Copenhagen' is a photographic portrait series that photographer Jens Juul has been working on for the past 10 years. The title of the project and the book refers to Six Degrees of Separation, which is the theory that all people are connected to each other through their networks and are never more than six degrees away from anyone on earth. And with the human network as a working method, the idea has been to draw human connection lines through Copenhagen. The people portrayed were unknown to the photographer. Subsequently, the person portrayed has recommended a person from their own circle of acquaintances, whereby the portrait baton has been passed on. By letting those portrayed hand over the baton, the process and the result have been manipulated as little as possible. The project has won major international awards, such as the Magnum Photography Awards, the Sony Photography Award and the International Photographer of the Year (IPOTY). Most recently, works from the series have won the main prize in the BBA Photography Prize
Projektet har vundet store internationale Priser, som fx Magnum Photography Awards, Sony Photography Award og International Photographer of the Year (IPOTY).
