"The original manuscripts of these works came to light whilst I was, during last year, carrying out some musicological research in the music library of the Choir of the East Hackney Lighthouse Cycling Society...it has been maliciously and unwarrantably suggested that I wrote them myself. I merely wrote them down, and, as I detest mere copying work, I added an opus number to acknowledge the labour represented thereby."--Composer's note.
