- Summary
- This book arises from the initiative of his grandson, Gerardo della Paolera, who complies with his father's request to honor the figure of his grandfather. Gerardo entrusted the research work to the architect Ramón Gutiérrez, who summoned prominent professionals to address the multiple aspects of the figure of Carlos María Della Paolera. The work covers the ideas of European urbanism and its arrival in Argentina, drawing a historical panorama between the second part of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Moment in which, after the deterioration of the industrial city archetype, modern urbanism begins to emerge. In Latin America, urban renewals arise, with an eye on the transformations of Paris; particularly in Argentina, in the 1980s and 1990s. The role of Della Paolera as a referent of local urbanism is described and highlighted, based on his protean international exchanges, which collaborated in giving body to the institutionalization of the discipline. Likewise, his contributions to the introduction of urbanism in universities, in projects to modify the urban layout.
