Description
xvii, 646 pages; 24 cm.
Summary
Zwierlein's book explores the authorship of the 5-book Latin adaptation of Josephus Flavius' 7-book-long orginal Greek version of De bello Judaico, which since ca. 830 had been attributed to Hegesippus. Examining prose rhythm, particles, idiomatic word combinations, and classical quotations, he narrows its creation date down to the period between the years 367 to 372 and thus confirms the attribution to Ambrosius. --
