- Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway in 1964, with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart. The work was based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 play The Merchant of Yonkers, which was revised and retitled as The Matchmaker, opening on Broadway in 1955. This 2017 revival was directed by Jerry Zaks and opened at the Shubert Theatre (New York, N.Y.) on April 20, 2017, closing on August 25, 2018.

- Bette Midler (b. 1945) began her career as an actor, singer and comedian in Off-Off-Broadway theatre in New York City in the 1960s, before joining the cast of the musical Fiddler on the Roof in its premier production on Broadway in 1967. She has appeared in many stage and film productions and also has writing and producing credits. Midler has won numerous performance accolades, incuding Grammy, Emmy, and Tony awards. Midler won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Hello, Dolly!Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway in 1964, with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart.
