- Summary
- Metal box and contents removed from the cornerstone of the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City, New York, at the time of its demolition in 1966. The theatre, located at 1341 Sixth Avenue at the corner of W. 54th Street, was designed by Joseph Urban and Thomas W. Lamb for theatre impressario Florence "Flo" Ziegfeld. The theatre opened on February 2, 1927 and remained under Ziegfeld's management until 1932. Theatre impressario Billy Rose managed the theatre from 1943 to 1965. The contents of the box include a United States flag, various newspapers about Ziegfeld, theatrical programs for performances produced by Ziegfeld, and photographs of the Ziegfeld family.
