• It is time to reaffirm the importance of literature and to have the courage to put literary theory back in touch with the major problems of the world in which we live. Let us reaffirm, in the midst of the celebration of post-Idea globalism and the fear of any universalist dimension, the form of universalism of literature, the one that created, as Milan Kundera puts it, the authentic history of man. It is a form of universalism accessible only to art, because the science or policy framework in which we live has at most access to generalization, to the finding of a valid identity (or which must be valid, so it must be imposed) everywhere. Maybe it's time, in the world that has been prepared for us and in which we are always disciplined to live and think in good manners, to reaffirm the manner of literature
