- The expansion of education is reaching massive dimensions in the modern period, and has revealed the interest of political powers to textbooks. By transferring social knowledge, behavior, beliefs and values through textbooks, attempts have been made to build loyalty, obedience and belonging feelings in new generations. The textbooks will cover the political significance of the language that the author has lived in order to develop mythical society. Nationalism is foregrounded while concepts such as homeland, patriotism and national exaltation are conveyed in general with culture lessons and history lessons in particular. In history textbooks, the cultural background of a particular ethnicity is seen as more important than the past of others and is centered. From this point of view, the history textbooks attach great importance to the past of the truth, and the other comes from ignorance. In this book, Tercan Yıldırım emphasized the fact that history teaching of political rulings was the main instrumentalization in the period, and revealed the identity discourse which is tried to be built through history textbooks in Turkey.
