Summary
André Volten (1925-2002) behoorde tot de voorhoede van de abstracte beeldhouwkunst in Nederland. Talrijke sculpturen, vrijwel altijd in staal, staan overal in het land opgesteld op prominente plekken, zoals voor de Stopera en aan de IJ-oever in Amsterdam en op het Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht. Zijn werk is vaak volledig geïntegreerd in de leefomgeving; het maakt deel uit van de stedelijke inrichting of van de architectuur.
