- Deep foundation design is an area of civil engineering which is undergoing rapid development based on improvements in numerical analysis and the execution of well- defined field tests and carefully composed laboratory testing programs. Here, eighteen peer-reviewed papers present recent studies on the behavior of and advances in the design of deep foundations, including driven piles and drilled piers, in soil and soft rock, onshore and offshore.
