• De interviews van Hilde Van Canneyt zijn voor kunstenaars een uitdagende zelfbevraging. Het zijn eerlijke woord-portretten die vaak letterlijk de taal van de gesprekspartner weergeven. Zo krijgt de lezer een unieke inkijk in het atelier en het hoofd van de kunstenaar. ?Wat speelt er zich af achter het gordijn van het atelier en het beeldend kunstgebeuren? Wat gebeurt er tussen de eerste gedachtekronkel en het afgewerkt kunstproduct? Hoe moet je als kunstenaar alle elementen die in jouw geest borrelen, omzetten in een kunstwerk dat je kwetsbaar maakt, maar tegelijkertijd de kijker moet beroeren? Dat is Hilde's vraagstelling: waarom sluit iemand zich op om te communiceren via een creatie? Hoe om te gaan met de fictieve wereld van het kunstwerk tegenover de niet altijd even mooie realiteit? Want kunst maken is sowieso een (langdurig) proces, dat zich al dan niet in het atelier afspeelt. Helaas zie je als kijker meestal slechts het eindresultaat, terwijl /de weg er naartoe even boeiend of zelfs boeiender is
• Hilde Van Canneyt's interviews are a challenging self-question for artists. They are honest word portraits that often literally convey the language of the interlocutor. This gives the reader a unique insight into the studio and the head of the artist. What is going on behind the curtain of the studio and the visual arts scene? What happens between the first turn of thought and the finished art product? As an artist, how should you convert all the elements that bubble in your mind into a work of art that makes you vulnerable, but at the same time should move the viewer? That is Hilde's question: why does someone lock himself in to communicate through a creation? How to deal with the fictional world of the artwork against the not always beautiful reality? Because making art is in any case a (long-term) process, which may or may not take place in the studio. Unfortunately as a viewer you usually see only the end result, while the road to it is equally captivating or even more fascinating
