- Summary
- The artworks of the Venetian master Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1696-1770) and his son Domenico Tiepolo (1727-1804) were known all over Europe and found their way to Russia and Nordic collections, too. Their paintings The Rape of the Sabine Women and The Greeks Sacking Troy belong to the pearls of the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. When an artist has finalised his or her artwork, begins its life cycle that can take it from one collection to another and far away from the artist?s home country. Based on new research, the book 'Tiepolot matkalla / Resa med Tiepolo' [Travelling with the Tiepolos] presents the history of the Tiepolo paintings at the Sinebrychoff Art Museum and the stories behind them. Readers are also given an insight into the world of collectors and art market. Exhibition: Sinebrychoffin taidemuseo, Helsinki, Finland (17.09.2020 - 10.01.2021).
