Summary

• The common thread chosen by Agnès Emery to illustrate her long artistic epic in a book is that of the intoxication of colors to re-enchant living spaces, in a style in a fragile balance between baroque and austerity. Her range of colors is inspired by landscapes and travel, but also through painting explored in museums and books. The tiles and furniture that she designs, edits and distributes, have a strong identity, the imperfections brought by an artisanal production creating surprise and poetry. The six books, grouped together in a case, are available in its emblematic colors. They testify, in more than 600 pages illustrated by her own photographs, of the numerous proposals which she imagines to present her work. They deliver us unusual images that invite the unexpected, so rare and so necessary. The texts, some written at different times during the adventure, evoke the ideas that underlie his work, or the places that inspired him. Graduated in architecture in 1971, Agnès Emery, feeling too cramped in the shackles of the modernist style, chose to move towards the renovation of buildings. But she cannot find the materials that suit her for her sites on the market, so she decides to create them and then sell them. She offered her creations in a first boutique opened in Brussels in 1993. The one in Paris followed and a small showroom in London hosted by Retrouvius. In addition, a very comprehensive website presents its products and allows it to open up to a more international clientele
• Le fil conducteur choisi par Agnès Emery pour illustrer sa longue épopée artistique dans un livre est celui de l'ivresse des couleurs pour réenchanter les lieux de vie, dans un style en équilibre fragile entre baroque et austérité. Sa gamme de couleurs est inspirée par les paysages et les voyages, mais aussi par la peinture explorée dans les musées et les livres. Les carrelages et le mobilier qu'elle dessine, édite et diffuse, ont une identité forte, les imperfections apportées par une production artisanale créant surprise et poésie. Les six ouvrages, regroupés dans un étui, sont déclinés selon ses couleurs emblématiques. Ils témoignent, en plus de 600 pages illustrées par ses propres photographies, des nombreuses propositions qu'elle imagine pour présenter son travail. Ils nous livrent des images insolites qui invitent à l'inattendu, si rare et si nécessaire. Les textes, écrits pour certains à différents moments de l'aventure, évoquent les idées qui sous-tendent son travail, ou les lieux qui l'ont inspiré. Diplômée d'architecture en 1971, Agnès Emery, se sentant trop à l'étroit dans le carcan du style moderniste, choisit de se diriger vers la rénovation de bâtiments. Mais elle ne trouve pas sur le marché les matériaux qui lui conviennent pour ses chantiers, elle décide alors de les créer et ensuite de les vendre. Elle propose ses créations dans une première boutique ouverte à Bruxelles en 1993. Suivront celle de Paris et un petit show-room à Londres hébergé par Retrouvius. En outre, un site internet très exhaustif présente ses produits et lui permet de s'ouvrir à une clientèle plus internationale
