- Summary
- In 'Underneath the Shade We Lay Grounded', Otobong Nkanga interweaves various forms of installations, sculptures, drawings, tapestries, performance and poetry to create sensory encounters and multi-layered intersections. With text contributions by Koyo Kouoh, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town, Omar Kholeif, Director of Collections and Senior Curator at Sharjah Art Foundation, and Shela Sheikh. Michel Dewilde, curator of contemporary art at Bruges Museums, and Jan Dumolyn, professor of medieval history at Ghent University and co-curator of the exhibition Van Eyck. An Optical Revolution, have also contributed text. Exhibition: Sint-Janshospitaal, Bruges, Belgium (25.06.-25.09.2022)
