Summary
Known as one of the pioneers of abstraction in Brazil, Samson Flexor (born Samson Modestovich Flexor; in Soroca, Bessarabia, Imperial Russia in 1907 d. São Paulo, Brazil, 1971), his contribution to geometric abstraction, both in his performance as an artist and as a master of a new generation in his Ateliê Abstração in the 1950s is widely recognized by critics. However, its later developments, characterized by lyrical or informal abstraction and the return to figuration in its last five years of life, remain little known to the public. Curated by Kiki Mazzucchelli, the exhibition aims to bring to light on the development of Flexor's work after 1957, "a reassessment of the artist's legacy, being the first exhibition to emphasize the works produced after its period of commitment with a language of geometric abstraction.ʺ (HKB Translation) --Page 14.
