- Summary
- This book deals with the study of rock art from a sector of the central coast of Sonora, Mexico. In general, rock art is considered as the graphic representation of something, be it animals, humans or phosphenes. This implies that the figure is seen as something that it is not in reality, and therefore as a static entity, external to the subject and inanimate. The notion of agency and person within the framework of a relational ontology, allows us to analyze the active role of figures painted on the rock as part of the mechanisms of formation and negotiation of identities. Spiritual paintings. Identity and Agency in the Relational Landscape of Hunter-gatherer and Fisher Societies is a book of deep ontological and epistemological reflection on archaeological work and how this step is necessary for the development of new ways of approaching the study of the past.
