- David Batchelder's images depict nothing more than small sections of beach, which, in theory, every vacationer could see. But nobody sees what Batchelder sees. Because the artist is a practiced observer. Over the years he has taken thousands of digital photographs of 'his' stretch of beach on the Isle of Palms in Charleston, South Carolina, honing his perceptual skills.
