- München ist ein Musterbeispiel der konfessionell kodierten Residenzstadt im Vorfeld des Dreissigjährigen Krieges. Ein wichtiger Zeuge hierfür ist der Kunst- und Politikagent Philipp Hainhofer (1578 - 1647), der die bayerische Hauptstadt zwischen 1603 und 1636 insgesamt siebenmal besuchte. Von fast jedem dieser Aufenthalte sind Reiseberichte erhalten, die äusserst wichtige Quellen zur Gestalt der Stadt und der kulturhistorischen Stellung des bayerischen Hofes im frühen 17. Jahrhundert darstellen. Der vorliegende Band vereinigt zehn Beiträge der Residenzenforschung mit besonderem Blick auf Kunst- und Sammlungspolitik, Beschreibungskunst aus der Perspektive von Reisenden sowie den Konnex von materieller Kultur, Stilbildung und Konfession.--Page [4] of cover.
- Munich is a prime model of a German princely capital in the forefront of the Thirty Years' War. The Augsburg art agent and diplomat Philipp Hainhofer (1578-1647) visited the Bavarian capital seven times between 1603 and 1636. Almost all stays are well documented. Hainhofer's itineraries are excellent sources for art historical and historical research particularly with regard to the urban pattern of Munich in the early 17th century. This volume brings together eleven contributions of applied research of princely courts with a special focus on art and collection policy, the art of description from the perspective of travelers, and the connection between material culture, style formation, and denomination.--Page [4] of cover.
