Summary
Exhibition of 32 works emerges from the MAC Panama collection and the Abordajes collection, developed from an open shared learning process. It is a selection of works intertwined with other cultural practices or manifestations, so that in that oscillation paths are revealed. The collection represents 32 artists from Latin America plus 8 invited artists. The exhibition is inspired by the braid and its function as a carrier of escape routes, small gestures made by the maroon women in the of Palenque villages. The MAC Panama collection was revised to select some works, "braiding" them with other practices or cultural manifestations that allow revealing new paths. "The investigation project "Keeping seeds in the hair" places emphasis on communities of Afro descendants and Indigenous peoples of Panama, evidencing how these groups have not had the same opportunities for participation and representation in the institutional centers and art circuits of the country and of the world. Through the wisdom of their peoples, they continue to weave our history, enriching our customs and strengthening our identities. Over the course of six months, in our exhibition rooms and through a variety of activities, there has been a continuous exchange between the artistic expressions of some representatives of these communities and the public." --Page 8.
