- Book focused on understanding Colombian societies from the historical relationship with the territories through the sociological, architectural, urban, historical, geographical, political and cultural phenomenon of the urban history of Colombia during the conquest and the colony (sixteenth and seventeenth centuries). "The second special model is imposed through violence, comes with aggression and comes in the context of the long war of conquest of the territory. With the Spanish penetration, complete and fundamental changes take place, both in society and in geography. Three factors are essential to understand the modes and settlements of the (unequally distributed) conquered territory: 1) the regime of private property of the land, 2) the dictatorship of external demands and 3) the establishment of two economies: domestic and export." (HKB Translation) --Page [13]. Author Jacques Aprile-Gniset (France 1931 - Cali, Colombia 2014) was an intellectual and urbanist academic who lived and worked in Colombia since 1973. His scientific contributions were mostly focused on Colombian cities studied from a Marxist perspective, but without overlooking the historical particularities of their context.
