Summary
Finally, Theodore Czerestwienski began: "Sometimes I think I understand everything, sometimes nothing. Of course, you care about this land in the most literal sense, because a piece of it has been your family property for several centuries, and also figuratively, because you think it's your country. The Ukrainians say that this is only their country and you should go away from here. But in fact, you and your ilk are none other than Ukrainians. Or Ruthenians. After all, it's one and the same. It's not about the name after all. In some generation you changed your religion, and most often the language, sometimes this and that at the same time, but you did not stop being Ruthenians. So you are, who speak Polish - the former nobility or peasants, whatever - authentic sons of this land. So what's the hate for? About the language? Also not. (...) Therefore, neither language nor nationality distinguishes. I used to think poverty and wealth. (...) So this division: poverty - wealth does not explain anything. (...) Maybe the reason for what is happening here lies elsewhere? Maybe a mosaic consists of many elements that I cannot put together? -- (excerpt from the book)
