- Summary
- Hip-hop is a set of artistic, musical, visual and performance practices (rap, breakdance, graffiti and DJ among others) that originated among the African-American population in the United States. In Latin America, its appropriation incorporated elements specific to each region. In the post-dictatorship Argentina, young people did not feel identified with local rock and took hip-hop and breakdance as their own music expression. Photographer Martín Biaggini began in 2015 to tour the recording studios of the rappers of the eighties and nineties and some shows or live events and toured the marginalized neighborhoods of the city of Buenos Aires and the suburban area. His photos began to appear on profile covers on social media, and many rap singers used them to design posters and promotional flyers. This publication is a photographic tour of some of those encounters. Biaggini's photographic archive comprises more than 5 thousand photographic "shots" related to the hip-hop culture.
