Summary
In the 1950s, Maria Leontina (1917-1984) caught the attention of critics with her still lifes, which can be seen in the first part of the exhibition along with a set of drawings produced by the interns of the Hospital Psiquiátrico do Juqueri, when the artist lead the fine arts sector. The set of works carried out by the interns can be seen by the public for the first time, presenting series such as: "Jogos e Enigmas" (1954), "Da paisagem e do tempo" (1957), "Narrativa" (1957) and "Os episódios" (1959/1960). Leontina's fascination with the book as an object appears in the relationship established between the series "Sant'Anas", created early in her career, and "Páginas", created in the 1970s. Also noteworthy is the set of preparatory studies for the stained glass windows that she designed for the Paróquia da Santíssima Trindade, in the plaza Praça Olavo Bilac, in downtown São Paulo.
