Summary
The exhibition rescues, from the testimony of the images and documents, the memory of the 1944 earthquake that took place in the province of San Juan (Argentina) and destroyed a large part of the provincial capital, killing thousands of its inhabitants. The publication privileges the graphic documentation of photographers and the artists who traveled through the devastation to leave their testimony. In the selection of the photographs -both those of the Archivo General de la Nación, as well as in an unpublished set preserved in family archives of the province- the photographic narrative focuses on men and women, while the visual art expressions portray the destruction. Includes the unpublished work of local photographer José Mazuelos, preserved by his descendants. The title of the Books "20:52" is in reference to the time (January 15, 1944 at 8:52 pm) when the earthquake happened.
