Summary

Shows how an infant learns language and speech by communication and interaction between caregiver and child. He learns in stages semantics (meaning) and syntax (grammar), goes from vowels to babbling, then to intelligible speech, giving different meanings to short sentences by word order or intonation. Social behavior simultaneously is learned by imitating the caregiver.
